Many Thanks
I want to thank everyone who has been patient with us. I know that I've been quite a bit on the AWOL end, and things have been a little hectic in most of our lives. (I graduate this semester. omg)
This project does mean the world to me, and I want to tell you all that the continued support that we've received, despite how difficult our lives have been of late, means equally as much.
I was going to let people know that we've hit a snag with hacking, so this has changed the game around a bit. Around the new year, we intended to have a functional 'demo' patch completed. This snag has caused us a delay, I'm afraid.
I am in the process of integrating the same streamlining done by Silver that I did on esterior.net to make the site WC3 compliant. I am, also, working (currently, at that) on chapter 2 of the Sora no Kiseki manga since I'm quite a bit ahead of my schoolwork for the week.
I might have something to say in the next week or two- hopefully, if things slow down a bit for me, that is. We will have to see, however.
The important thing is that we're still alive. I promise you. We are.

Sweet, take your time. I'm on my graduating year too so yeah.

Also, I'm a slacker. But *hopefully* we can get this demo patch out before someone's hard drive crashes again!

Instead of working on the damn manga, work on the game more. To be honest the manga is the most pointless thing.

(Split into two comments for wewuvfloofy- I wuv yer name too~)
Well, while we're at a standstill with our programming issues, there's little we can do at this point. The problems we've had in the past was when we've had to change hackers and it meant changing our entire input method.
I've got something in the works for the backend of this site that will serve to help with that issue and keep it from rearing its ugly head in the future anytime there's a programming change, either from the same programmer or from a new programmer (I hope that doesn't happen. I like FES on our team. D:)
...but for the time being... it's a little difficult, unfortunately. ALSO. When I worked on this under Nightwolve, I managed to have almost 30% of the script complete. I'm in the process of extracting the database file that contained my translation work for it, so I can find a way to plug it into the version we're going to have for this project, as well.
This should jump a lot of our work up in the completion status.
Finally, there are things that were translated while Rasqual was our hacker. These things are still in my backlogs as well that need to be integrated into the game also.
by Floofy @ 03 Mar 2010 08:07 pm
(part 2!)
For example, most of the menus and a large chunk of the items were translated while I had Rasqual's code set... then when FES joined, we learned that we needed to still put something in in that direction.
While there actually *is* a lot done, it's still scratching the surface of this monster game, unfortunately. And most of our situation has us halted at the moment. So the manga is a quick way for us to thank people for being patient.
Had we been focusing on the manga, I'd have had this 2nd chapter out long before this week (I should have it out to QC by the end of the week, and a release prepped), but I've also been focused with other aspects of the project as well.
by ShadowZFury @ 04 Mar 2010 12:55 pm
Oh yeah I'm curious but the translation is for all 3 of the Sora No Kiseki game or just the FC?

Sorry for the double post >_< internet gave me a page cannot be found error
by Floofy @ 04 Mar 2010 04:30 pm
ShadowzFury: It's okay. I've had that issue as well. Don't worry about the doubleposting.
We're taking it as we go, more or less. I'm mildly worried that SC and 3rd will both have larger scripts than FC, though.
I know, for a fact, that SC does- it's just a beefier game in general, and it has a lot more issues where complete dialogue in scenes will change according to the party.
Then 3rd is another beast altogether. While it's a shorter game, it has free party selection for a large chunk of it.

Keep up the great work. Don't worry, we'll keep waiting patiently

by Chen^2 @ 04 Mar 2010 07:20 pm
Sorry to post again, are you guys thinking about showing another demonstration at Otakon this year?
by Floofy @ 04 Mar 2010 11:44 pm
Oh snap. You just reminded me, Chen, that I need to fill out the panel application for this year's Otakon. XD;
I want to see if I can do a little more than just a video at Otakon. We'll see what happens, though. :D
by Chen^2 @ 05 Mar 2010 01:10 am
Cool. I missed last year's con but I'll definitely try to go this year, depends on how my internship goes. Looking forward to seeing you guys there

by ShadowZFury @ 05 Mar 2010 08:35 am
Ah okay, but at least we'll have FC to keep us busy while you work on SC, if you intend to do it I mean. Cause from the opening of the three games, it seems that FC and SC is one story while 3rd is another story altogether. Btw in which country is Otakon at?
by Floofy @ 05 Mar 2010 08:27 pm
There may be more reason why you'd want to go, Chen. And best of luck with your internship, also. :D
ShadowzFury: Yeah. I occasionally get distracted with stuff in SC and 3rd, and usually when I do, I start taking notes from them so all I have to do is plug in what I've done.
You're right, though. FC and SC are one story. FC ends on a cliffhanger and SC closes it off. Then 3rd is just 'arghable.' :D;
by Chen^2 @ 06 Mar 2010 03:57 pm
Thanks a lot Floofy :D Hopefully there will be some awesome guests there this year. I've always been praying for the Haruhi trio (Aya Hirano, Minori Chihara, Yūko Gotō) or the male casts from that show to show up, but that's probably impossible
ShadowZFury: The Otakon's in Baltimore, Maryland, US. This year it's going to be between July 30 and August 1.

I talked to Falcom the other day and they indicated that the rights to the Sora no Kiseki games had already been acquired by a stateside developer and they'd be seeing an English release. Does anybody know who that developer is?
by cxt217 @ 21 Mar 2010 09:14 pm
<Blink>
Seriously...? That has to be the most interesting thing I heard yet.

by Floofy @ 22 Mar 2010 02:58 pm
Eric: I've heard rumors on it. I can't confirm or deny what I've heard, though, unfortunately.
by Dave Harding @ 26 Mar 2010 06:34 am
I called Falcom just to check if what Eric Weiss said was true and apparently the rights to all three games have already been sold to some American company. Any ideas?
Really!, how did you talk to falcom I want belive it but I need and want to see proof please.
by Anon @ 28 Mar 2010 09:24 pm
Ugh, don't say that haha. I have a gut feeling more terribly translated PSP versions are near.
It's a pity those terrible PSP translations seem to be preventing anyone from translating LoH 3, 4, and 5 on PC as those versions looked very, very nice.
by Dave Harding @ 30 Mar 2010 06:34 am
Hey Ragna Kent,
Call this number and ask the people at Falcom yourself if you don't want to take my word for it. I'm not joking when I said somebody's bought a license for the Sora no Kiseki games. That Eric Weiss guy wasn't lying.
Falcom: 011-81-42-527-0555
Thanks but I can't call them i'm not very fluent in japanese you see....

by Dave Harding @ 31 Mar 2010 12:13 am
Ah, I see the problem now if you can't speak Japanese...

The downside to being pointed at this website is trying to resist, very hard, obviously trolling people.
I'm being good so far!!
